Senior Software Engineer I – AI

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer I – AI to join a small, focused AI-Native engineering team. This role focuses on building production-grade software using modern AI-assisted development workflows. The ideal candidate will have a strong backend and enterprise software engineering foundation in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and workflow orchestration, combined with hands-on experience using AI development tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms. This is not an AI/ML model-training role. The focus is on using AI-assisted engineering practices to build, test, debug, and deliver high-quality production software efficiently and securely. Key Responsibilities Build and enhance production-grade Java/Spring Boot backend services, APIs, and microservices. Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Copilot, or similar tools for coding, testing, debugging, and documentation. Review and validate AI-generated code for quality, security, performance, correctness, and maintainability. Integrate applications with workflow orchestration platforms such as Temporal, Camunda, Flowable, JBPM, or Drools. Develop automation, intelligent routing, and decision-support capabilities. Collaborate with technical leads, data teams, engineering teams, and product stakeholders. Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, debugging, and production support. Contribute to CI/CD, DevSecOps, Kubernetes/OpenShift, AWS, and cloud-native deployments. Help establish and improve AI-assisted software development practices and standards. Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of professional backend/enterprise software development experience. Strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and integration patterns. Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools. Strong debugging, problem-solving, and code-review skills. Experience with SQL and relational databases, including PostgreSQL or Oracle. Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, CI/CD, DevOps, and cloud platforms. Experience with OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS, or similar cloud technologies. Exposure to workflow orchestration or business-rule platforms. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Experience working in an Agile development environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with AI-native software development. Experience with Generative AI-assisted development workflows. Experience with Temporal.io, Camunda, Flowable, JBPM, or Drools. Experience developing workflow-driven or decision-automation solutions. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or OCI. Experience building internal developer tools, automation frameworks, or shared platforms. Experience working in healthcare IT or other regulated environments.
